I am back. It is a special Sunday edition of this damned thing. First off, I am not feeling the love from y'all. I am not pleased by that, but what can I do? Second, there are some funny things going on around here.
I woke up early yesterday, and thought, "it has been about a year since I saw the Gay Open Tennis Championships at Mayfair", I wondered if they were doing it again. Well, I go to work out yesterday, and lo and behold the Open was on again. I did get to make the same jokes as I did last year, but this time I got to tell them live. I saw a friend and pointed out the tournament to him (not that there's anything wrong with that). I still have trouble with why it is limited to Gay men, but that is their business and not mine.
I still stand behind my comment of last year, that tennis takes on a new meaning when played by guys who like having balls bounce of their chins. Again, that is just me. As Eddie Murphy said in Delirious, "There is nothing wrong with gay people. You can, like play tennis with a gay guy, but after the match, you will say, well, I'm going to have a beer. He will reply, I am going to suck somebody's dick." "I will stick to my beer, but good luck with that dick sucking thing." (I did paraphrase a bit there, as I really am going on 25 year old memories of Delirious.
The wife and brother in law were to lead the singalong at the home where they house FIL. There is a dude, who used to open for Steve and Eydie and Jackie Mason in Vegas in the '70s, who usually leads these things. The song book are moldy oldies that even predate the residents. It is funny, funnier still, is that the Lad sings these songs in the shower. Nothing like hearing an 11 year old belting out "Those Were the Days My Friend" in the shower. It makes me feel like I am back in the Brunswick House, without the beer, skeezy crowd and jars of pickled eggs, but other than that it is just like it.
Anyway, my brother in law was sweating his way through. I am not sure what he was "worried" about. The residents would not really recall it from one week to the next. It is just done to give the more mobile people something to do on a Saturday afternoon. Marvin, the dude, is in Europe. He keeps coming, on his own, even ten years after his own mother, who was a resident, passed away. It is a good thing he has done and is doing.
I had no trouble projecting out to the crowd. I did not care. In fact, I liked the audience. I may work the crowd better next week. There is nobody to judge you there. Besides, if they do, how do you take their comments seriously as most are in adult diapers. They crap themselves at will, and I am supposed to take criticism from that? It is all a matter of perspective.
It was a bit of okay. I am done for today. I hope to post again tomorrow on the holiday Monday (up here in Canada). Ciao!
