I am back. I wanted to go back in time. When the dates fell on the same dates/days as present. I was thinking back to 1980. US Men's Ice Hockey Team upsetting the Soviets at the Olympics in Lake Placid (Miracle on Ice), you remember all that. It was also this time, coming off of Victoria Day, that I fell ill.
We were back at school on the Tuesday (May 20th) and I recall feeling all achy and tired. We had our 12 minute run. In the end, it took me forever to get dressed to go home. I could barely move, my energy spent. Then, it turns out I had a fever. I go the doctor on the Thursday (28 years ago to the day) only to be diagnosed with chicken pox.....FOR THE SECOND TIME!
It was mild but ruined a good weekend, since my parents had gone to New York. I could not have my then girlfriend over for some action. Oh well.
Eleven years ago, I was heading in for my hernia surgery at Shouldice Hospital. I chose Memorial Day because I knew then that I would only miss four trading days instead of five. That turned out to be a nice little break. Almost like a vacation, except for the surgical staples and crappy twin bed.
I mention that by way of the fact that I am ailing again. I was exhausted at work yesterday and went home early after dragging myself for 6+ hours. I came home and crawled into bed. The Wife went on a market research survey. I was with the Lad. We were watching Idol. He was. I kept dozing off. He would look at me and tell me that I was snoring.
It was one of those crappy, sweat soaked sleeps. The kind that is induced by ibuprofen. Nothing like waking up at three, with a wet, cold and clamy tee shirt on. Wet duvet cover and pillow/cases. It was so cold in the bedroom that I am not sure if stuff was damp or just cold.
I am feeling much better today. I think that whatever it was it has passed. I am quite pleased so.....that is my story.
Ciao!
