I am back. It has been about a month since my last post, so let me get to it. Happy New Year one and all! It could be our last together (2012...The Mayan Calendar....Nuclear Holocaust....World War III or IV.....Thank you North Korea, Iran, Russia, China and the US......) or it will be another year not much different from those that preceeded it. How the hell should I know? If I could predict that, I would be predicting lottery numbers and living the easy life....on a beach, in the tropics, in a hammock in the sun, drinking some type of rum based libation. I am in a nice but cool home in Toronto with some snow on the ground, so that tells you what my predictions may be worth.
I do want to shout a Happy Chinese New Year and Year of the Dragon (is it water or metal??) to all those who are into that, too. I do like the Year of the Dragon as I am a Dragon. I am a wooden dragon, apparently. It would make more sense for me, personally, to be a water dragon, but you is what you is.
The holidays around these parts were interesting. Over Christmas, the Wife;s sister and family were in. The Wife brushed off her sister on the Thursday before Christmas as she had to be up early for work on the Friday. SIL had her usual hissy fit but became as sweet as pie as the Wife finally held firm and did not fold like a cheap suit (she usually does. not sure why. SIL has NEVER treated her with respect and there is no elements of a friendship. SIL seems to believe that because they share DNA, because the in laws fucked at least three times, that it gives her some vaunted status within the Wife's, not mine, life).
Anyway, they all were over here for brunch on the Sunday. At one point, we are all in the living room. Everybody was on a different electronic device. People on their Blackberrys. People on their iPads. I said "fuck that" and headed to the television to watch basketball. I do not really care to sit amongst people not engaged in anything, so I may as well do something that I consider fun.
I want to send a shout out to the Lad whose birthday we celebrated in the middle of the week. The funny thing is that it is not his birthday. Well, it is, but it would be funnier my way.
I am going to suggest that March 8th would be an interesting time for Israel to launch an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities. March 8th is Purim. That is the holiday that celebrates the Jewish people rising up to end a threat by Haman in the Persian kingdom. It was the story of an assimilated society, much like the Jews in Germany in the 30s. The timing would be truly interesting. Then again, that assumes something other than randomness and chaos in the real world.
It was on this day and date, back in 1984, when the Los Angeles Raiders defeated the Washington Redskins in the Super Bowl. Marcus Allen had that 73 yard touchdown run. It was awesome and the Raiders last Super Bowl victory.
That is all for now. Ciao!
